Padma Mandalapu, MS, MD, FAAP.

Dr. Padma Mandalapu is the founder of Tender Care Pediatrics and has been proudly serving the South Jersey community since 1997. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). Dr. Mandalapu completed her pediatric residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prior to her residency, she earned a Master of Science in Pediatrics from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Her research on breast milk—specifically a novel immunosuppressant factor in colostrum—has been patented, published, and recognized with multiple awards. This work continues to inform her strong advocacy for breastfeeding.

About me

I’m Dr. Padma Mandalapu—though most of my young patients simply call me “Dr. Padma.” From an early age, I knew I wanted to become a physician, and over time, that dream evolved into a deep passion for pediatrics. Caring for children brings me immense joy, and I feel privileged to support families through every stage of a child’s growth and development.

My educational journey has taken me across the globe. I began my medical training at KMC Medical College in India, followed by postgraduate studies in Pediatrics at the University of Alberta in Canada. My research experience there shaped my clinical philosophy and strengthened my commitment to preventive and evidence-based pediatric care. I then completed my internship and residency in Pediatrics at Stony Brook University Medical Center in New York, where I was honored with the award for Best Resident in Citizenship and Collegiality.

After completing my training in 1997, I began practicing in Somers Point, New Jersey. In 2000, I founded Tender Care Pediatrics in Galloway Township to bring my vision of compassionate, family-centered care to the community. What started as a single-physician practice has grown into a thriving, multi-provider team.
Over the years, I have been honored with recognitions including NJ’s Favorite Kids’ Doctor, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, and Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Doctors. I have also remained an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and its New Jersey Chapter since 1997.

It is truly a joy to watch children grow and to partner with parents along the way. I value building long-term relationships with families and find it especially meaningful to care for the children of my former patients. I strive to provide thoughtful, personalized care in a warm and welcoming environment. Every child is treated with the same compassion and attention I would give my own.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband is an engineer at the FAA Technical Center, and we are blessed with a son and a daughter. I also love traveling, cooking, and connecting with friends.
